In the last band I played in, our guitarist played a '70s era strat. He used a POD and Marshall amp to get fatter, more metal sounds. When we recorded we had to have him turn around and face away from the computer.
Yes, I jokingly gave him hell for not using a "true" hard rock guitar with HBs. ;)
(All in fun, of course, since he could rightly give me hell for being able to play circles around me.)
