Friday Night Cage Match/Fondue Party/Evolving Conversation/Dancing About Architecture/Floating Crap Game Volume 5

I have a thought about doing this about labels. We could have a round-robin:

Stax or Motown?

Sun or Chess?

Sub-Pop or SST?

Death Row or Def Jam?

The Elite Eight?

Maybe later.

I've gone with personalities so far. We'll go with something different.

D'Addario or Ernie Ball?

I'm no esteemed personage about this matter, as the only strings I've used are Ernies, but they were good strings...

I'm going Ernie

D'Addarios have better tone, but EB's are more durable.

Ernie Ball's strings last about five times longer than D'Addario's. and that does make them many times more economical. And I do like Ball's super slinky's that "Seem" to not last as long as the other.

You know I have never found a better economical string than EB's Clear Nylon Classic strings. It seems to go on forever..!

D'Addario has the best action for acoustic, though. I used to watch all the vibration from them, as they seem to dance when played hard. And better friction at plucking, squeezing, or flicking [no plectrum] type playing; while Sustain longer on wide necks of a classic style guitars.

We have experimented with all types of strings on the Tele- from Martins to even Fender strings. We have EB super slinky's on there right now. It is so delicate that it is like playing a flower petal without tearing it...

Every string brings its own features, touch and smells... but I guess I am most an Ernie Ball man and a Tele Fan.
