Bob Wills asked me to stay a little longer... and made me more sociable.... -- but -- and though very similar fiddle players -- Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, et al, serenaded and lulled me into the trusting soul I am. Background instrumental dialogues to my cartoons' characters of my earliest memories, cows, mice and cats and a boy's best friend still -- my dog... are the most trusted icon in my memories.
Although I'm a major Bob Wills fan, I'm going with Grappelli since he and Django had more international impact. For example, when Jimmy Bryant was stationed in Europe he was exposed to Django's music.
